We are a periodontal specialty office seeking a reliable, professional, and motivated Hybrid Front Office Administrative Assistant and Dental Assistant / RDA to join our team.

This position is ideal for someone who is comfortable working both at the front desk and in the back office. Responsibilities include patient communication, scheduling, insurance coordination, collections, clinical assisting, sterilization, room preparation, documentation, and supporting the daily flow of the practice.

The right candidate should be organized, detail-oriented, friendly with patients, and able to shift between administrative and clinical responsibilities as needed. Periodontal or surgical experience is preferred but not required for the right person.

Responsibilities:
Greet and welcome patients in a professional and friendly manner

Answer phones, schedule appointments, confirm visits, and manage cancellations

Help maintain an organized and professional front office and patient waiting area

Review and manage the daily schedule

Ensure patient paperwork and records are complete and updated

Collect patient payments and assist with account balance questions

Submit and follow up on dental insurance claims and preauthorizations

Assist with accounts receivable, outstanding balances, and collections protocols

Coordinate patient referrals to and from other dental providers

Manage recall and continuing care systems

Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, supplies, and tray setups

Assist the doctor during periodontal exams, surgeries, and treatment visits

Sterilize and disinfect instruments, equipment, operatories, and clinical areas according to office protocols

Take dental radiographs as permitted by certification and California law

Record medical and dental histories, vital signs, treatment notes, and other documentation

Provide postoperative instructions and patient education as directed by the doctor

Monitor clinical and front office supplies

Maintain HIPAA, OSHA, infection-control, and office policy compliance

Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the practice

Minimum Requirements:
Current CPR certification

Radiation Safety Certificate / X-ray license if radiographs will be taken

Current California RDA license preferred, but DA candidates may also be considered

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to multitask and move between front office and back office duties

Professional, dependable, and patient-centered attitude

Comfort using dental software, digital records, phones, email, scanners, and standard office equipment

Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications:
At least 2 years of dental or clinical experience preferred

Periodontal or surgical assisting experience preferred

Experience with dental insurance claims, preauthorizations, accounts receivable, and patient financing preferred

Experience with dental practice management software preferred

Bilingual ability is a plus

Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, and move throughout the office as needed

Manual dexterity required for clinical assisting, sterilization, and documentation

Ability to read forms, computer screens, radiographs, and clinical documents

Ability to communicate clearly with patients, team members, and outside offices by phone and in person

Ability to work in a fast-paced dental environment while maintaining professionalism and accuracy
