Dental Hygienist Duties and Responsibilities

Perform examinations and extensive cleanings, take x-rays when necessary, and administer fluoride treatments. At the end of each cleaning, provide our patients with instructions on effective brushing and flossing techniques. A current Arizona state license and at least two years of professional experience. We pride ourselves in providing excellent care to all of our patients and expect our hygienists to be attentive and detailed in their cleanings.

• Gather patient information and health background
• Take x-rays when necessary
• Prepare the work area for procedures
• Clean and polish patients’ teeth and gums
• Non surgical periodontal cleaning ie SRP
• Educate patients on good oral hygiene habits
• Update patient records
• Sterilizing dental instruments and equipment
• Restock treatment areas
• Work with dental assistants to create a team environment for the entire office
• Staying up to date on the latest trends and procedures in the dental hygiene field and obtaining the relevant training to complete these procedures as needed

 Requirements and Qualifications

• Valid state Dental Hygienist license.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene.
• Strong communication and people skills.
• Knowledge of infection control protocols and safety rules.
• Experience with dental software (such as Dentrix) is a plus
• We Use Archy but you will be trained to use this software.

o Two years Dental Hygiene experience is preferred

o Working knowledge of computers for word processing, insurance claims processing and records management [list computer software experience required including any specific dental software]

o Knowledge or experience in staff management

Interpersonal

o Customer service or patient relations experience

o Ability to communicate all concerns to the dentist
