Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated, skilled, experienced, positive, punctual Registered Dental Assistant with Extended Functions (RDAEF) to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will assist the dentist in a wide range of advanced dental procedures while ensuring patient comfort and safety. The RDAEF will be responsible for performing various clinical and administrative duties, utilizing their expanded skills and knowledge to provide high-quality dental care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during examinations, dental procedures, ensuring all instruments and materials are ready and sterile.
- Perform expanded functions such as taking radiographs (X-rays), placing restorations, fabricating temporary crowns.
- Assist in the placement of fillings, and take impressions for molds.
- Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide sedation under the supervision of the dentist.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene, post-treatment care, and preventive measures.
- Manage patient records, including documentation of treatments and progress, ensuring they are accurate and up-to-date.
- Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of dental instruments and equipment.
- Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient intake, if needed.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and dental office safety standards.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking supplies.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license and certification to perform extended functions (RDAEF) in the state of practice.
- Proven experience working as a dental assistant with extended functions in a clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of dental procedures, anatomy, and dental materials.
- Proficient in dental radiography and interpreting radiographic images.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain procedures to patients in a clear, compassionate manner.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in using dental office management software and handling administrative tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to make temporary crowns, bridges and veneers in a timely manner.
